Canteen, socially distanced for 30

The Challenge

We were approached by Clipfine Construction, to create an enlarged temporary canteen space to allow more construction staff back onto site for an infrastructure project in Berkshire, in line with Covid-19 guidelines, and ensure work continues on site.

The Solution

After working closely with our client, and the unique constraints of the site, we designed and supplied an enlarged temporary canteen to allow for social distancing and all situated onto tarmac and secured with concrete ballast.

We supplied a turn-ey solution including:

  • Furniture
  • Washable floor surface
  • Hand sanitizer stations
  • Social distancing floor signage
  • Lockable doors (including push bar for exit)

To minimise disruption to the construction site, our teams worked over the course of a weekend, to have the temporary canteen ready for use first thing Monday morning.

We designed the structures with key elements in mind:

  • Distancing of 2m (or more) between tables.
  • Separate entrance and exit to allow through flow.
  • Weighting to the marquee as the marquee was sited on tarmac.
  • Set up and de-rig in line with Covid-19 / Coronavirus social distancing measures.
  • Weekly health and safety inspections.
  • Weekly maintenance inspections.
  • Compliance with existing health and safety measures.
